Record of newspaper occurances of CRIPPIN/CRIPPEN name, hopefully of use to someone. Feel free to add your own newspaper accounts as a reply when you encounter the Crippen variations. Could be a difficult list if combined together, so will try to break out by geographic areas, as a new topic. Not in chronological order, transcribed as written (old script f converted to s when appropriate). Scan copies to members of the Crippen Bulletin Board available on request.
THOMAS CRIPPEN - Married
On Sunday evening last, by the Rev. Mr. Kuypen, Mr. THOMAS CRIPPEN, to Miss Catherine Britten, both of this city.

THOMAS CRIPPEN - Lost Overboard
We learn by the pilot boat Young Pilot, that on Wednesday morning, Thomas Crippin, pilot, was lost overboard from the ship Mary Johnson, from Havanna, in a squall, and all attempts to save his life proved ineffectual.

LEVI CRIPPIN - House Fire
On the night of the 2d inst. the house of Levi Crippin, of Penfield, (formerly of Fairfield, Herkimer county) was burnt, and with it his six children, the eldest around 9 years, the youngest an infant, about 7 months. The parents it is said, were both from home, nearly a mile.

SILAS CRIPPEN - Sheriffs Sale (added 05-10-2006) (transcribed as written with old style f for s).
By virtue of a write of Teftatum Fieri Facias iffued out of fupreme court of Judicature of the ftate of New York, to me directed and delivered againft the goods and chattels lands and tenements of Silas Crippin and Spencer Cone---I have levied on lot number 524 Springfield patent, containing one hundred acres of land, in poffeffion of Silas Crippin; and lot number 62 in Springfield patent, containing five acres of land, with a tan yard and tanning works, framed houfe and barn thereon, now in poffeffion of John Paffage, both in the town of Springfield, together with all the perfonal property of faid Silas, which I fhall expofe to fale at the houfe of Thomas Whitaker, in the town of Cherry Valley on Saturday the 28th day of October next, at one o'clock in the afternoon.
