Hi Steve,
Thanks for the quick return and help with
the DNA project. I do think the kits are good luck!
Will watch eagerly for the results.

My nephew has James' father as Joseph Elder 1770-1858 married to Polly Jane Walker ? Joseph had a son also Joseph b 1811 and d 1868 buried in Ligioner , Westmoreland Pa. Joseph's patents Robert Elder and Mary Thompson and Robert's parents James Elder 1712-1818 and Elizabeth Maips or unknown Cole ? then Robert and Eleanor ?? So far can't anything showing all Joseph's children to connect James ?

Hi Steve,
I saw one of those wrong connections to my
3d g-grandfather, Joseph ELDER (1770-1858).
We are quite sure Joseph didn't have a son JAMES.
Joseph Sr. is buried in Ligonier Valley Cemetery with his son
Joseph Jr. and Joseph Jr.'s wife Eliza
Photo of gravestone

There are other relatives still in Westmoreland Co PA, but
most of mine came from "FRANKLIN CO PA."
More ELDER burial photos taken
in "FRANKLIN CO PA" are posted on my webpages by relatives
at
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nancyelder/ed/SpringRunPhotos.htm

Joseph Sr's father:
My 4th great-grandfather, Rev. War SOLDIER, Robert ELDER (1730-1807), has
a Will and Land records in FRANKLIN CO PA Court House:
Summary with children listed in
Will Book "B" p. 320, Chambersburg, PA.
The Will of Robert Elder, of Fannett Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, yeoman.
" I give and devise the plantation I now live upon in the township, county and state aforesaid I give and devise the same unto my two sons Joseph and Samuel to be equally divided between them and I give and devise wife Mary all personal effects. I give and devise to my son Samuel all my moveable property after the death of my wife Mary. To my son David, all my waering apparel and forty pounds in cash and to son Abraham in Huntingdon County, forty pounds in cash and to my son John, thirty pounds in cash. To my son Robert, fifty pounds to be paid to him by the said Joseph and Samuel. And I also give to my son Matthew, three pounds five shillings to be paid to him by the said Joseph and Samuel and lastly I nominate and appoint my two sons Joseph Elder and Samuel Elder to be executors of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all other wills by me made. In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this 4th day of October, 1799.
Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of us
Robert Simeson
James alexander
Proved April 27, 1807.

Hi Steve,
I usually write another comment on the entries
for ROBERT ELDER and wife ELEANOR of "PAXTANG PA".
They are often attached to my "FRANKLIN CO PA" in history of PA.

We have DNA kits for descendants of that ROBERT, and they
have very different DNA than my brother's kit.
They have "I=Isles, Viking" DNA.
So I think yours may match theirs, and not my "FRANKLIN CO PA"
which has "R1b" DNA group.

So we still have to find parents of your James Elder.

Well Joesph doesn't show a son James, But Samuel and Jane Truesdale have a son James ? Samuel is Joseph's younger brother. Can't find much info on them yet but if he's only a year or two younger it's a possibility.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for digging into more about that "FRANKLIN CO PA" family.
We'll know to keep working on that family location, if your DNA matches
my brother, instead of the "PAXTANG PA" family.

Reminds me that I have more charts about the "FRANKLIN CO PA"
family, and some Bible entries, too. The charts were found and copied
at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia.
I'll see if I can dig those out for review.

Historical Society of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia
webpage at
http://www.hsp.org

Online Catalog search: "Elder Family"
found
"Descendants of Robert Elder (d.1807), Franklin County, Pa."
Call Number: FC El
Located: Closed Stacks (call slip needed)
Available

(That search also finds lots more materials about "PAXTANG PA" family).

Hi Steve,
I found the chart for Samuel Elder and Jane Truesdale in
my "FRANKLIN CO PA" paper files.
Note across all children's space says:
"Assume all born Fannett Twp, Franklin Co PA"

Most of the children have notes beside them, for their marriages or
children, but nothing for James.

Joseph has a birth date of 5 Mar. 1804, just before the blank entry for James.
After James:
Abraham is b. 1810,
Samuel is b. 1812,
Sarah is b. 27 Apr. 1815.

Another entry for Sons of American Revolution, with reference
to Eliza Jane MARTIN, Hugh MARTIN and ELDER names.
I posted image of SAR membership from Ancestry, onto my webpages
