The first known of this line is John Elder who died abt 1740 in Anne Arundel, Md.

1707 he was assigned a warrent for 57 acres on the Patuxant River by John Lazwell. Elder patented the land as "Laxford"

Also purchased: "Duvall's Delight" (100 acres) from John Duvall; and "Addition to Huntington Quarter" (334 acres) assigned by Joshua Dorsey and Henry Ridgely, and patented by Elder. Both in Anne Arundel County.

November 1739 — Elder conveyed 150 acres (parts of Laxford and Addition to Huntington Quarter) to son John Elder Jr.

Attended St. Anne's Church, Annapolis, served as Church warden in 1729 & 1737; with son John Jr. they occupied pew 25.

Will— written 29 Dec 1740; filed 11 Mar 1740/41; witnessed by: Richard Daviss, Orlando Griffith, Edward Penn and Catherine Scott. bequeathed to following children:

James—41 acres "Laxford" & 100 acres "Duvall's Delight"
Charles— 100 acres "Addition of Huntington's Quarter"
Residue to: Alexander, James, Charles, & Mary.

John first "partner" Elizabeth. No proof of marriage has been found. It could possibly be a common law marriage.

They had one child:
2 i. John (~1695-1762) - source: Baptismal record

On 19 Oct 1708 John married Mary Morris (St. Anne's, Parish Register) in Anne Arundel, Maryland. Mary died bef 1740 in Anne Arundel, Maryland.

They had the following children:
3 i. Alexander (1711-1762)
4 ii. James (-~1767)
5 iii. Charles (-<1752)
6 iv. Mary

Would love to compare notes on this line and descendants.

Donna
