Does anyone have new information on Jeremiah Elder, born 1815 in GA?
Children are Elmira, James, Abner (my ggg grandfather), Penelpe,
He was married to a Jane E, but I'm sure that was his second wife.
The 1850 GA census shows him as head of household with no wife listed. His age is 35 and his oldest child is 18. If ages are correct on the 1870 GA census, Jane E. (his wife) would have only been 18 in 1850, the same age as his oldest daughter. I have hit a brick wall on the parents of this Jeremiah. Census shows his parents were born in South Carolina.
I recently visited Paulding County, GA. At one time the Elders owned a lot of land there, before moving to Lookout Mountain, ALabama after the Civil War. I found the grave of my ancestor, Absolom Abner Elderb. 1835. He fought in the Civil War (CSA - Company B-4, GA State Troops). I plan to go back to the Paulding County historical society soon & do some more research.
Any information on this Jeremiah Elder would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Pam,
I haven't found any more in my files, but will
keep looking. Will also send an alert to Cici ELDER,
who might have more. _________________ Nancy Elder Petersen
