OBITUARY FOR FULTON ELDER - April 29, 1925 - Jan 12 2006.

https://lists.rootsweb.com/hyperkitty/list/casolano@rootsweb.com/thread/17136657/

From the River News-Herald & Isleton Journal (weekly newspaper), Rio Vista, CA, Weds., Feb 22, 2006, page A2:
FULTON ELDER (includes photo) April 29, 1925 - January 12, 2006 Former Rio Vista resident Fulton Elder passed away in Barstow, CA, January 12, 2006 after a short illness.
Mr. Elder taught English at Rio Vista High School from 1967 until 1978.
He is survived by his children Brian Elder, Patricia Elder, Sean Elder, April Warchol, Ethan Elder, and step-daughters Kimberly Gerton and Kelly Roberts, as well as ten grandchildren.
He also leaved behind two brothers, Gary Elder and David Elder, and his sister Joanne Delans.

Fulton Elder was born in Pennsylvania on April 29, 1925. He enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps in May of 1942 at the age of 17, and became an air gunner and Staff Sergeant while stationed in the South pacific during WWII. He survived a mid-air collision before being discharged in May 1946. He attended the University of Santa Barbara and the University of California, Berkeley to obtain his teaching degrees, and taught high school English in several California communities before retiring in 1985, when he and his wife, Marion, moved to Barstow.

Mr. Elder was a member of MENSA, an organization got people with IQs in the top 2% of the population. He enjoyed studying the English language, Spanish, and also had a great interest in history. In his younger days he liked to relax with fly fishing and chess, and was an avid reader throughout his life. His family and friends will not forget him. (copied as is)
>Contact me privately if you would like the original article scanned to you in the next few days; no later than one week. The Rio Vista Museum collects obituaries and will also have it, although I'm not sure if they have a copy machine there.
