Today I am reviewing research notes for
Robert ELDER, b. 1760 York Co PA,
because our newest ELDER DNA kit #34, has a JOSEPH ELDER listed as owning land in the same area of
Sullivan Co TN/Washington Co VA.
(but he doesn't match our Sevier Co TN/Franklin Co PA DNA numbers).
See Donna Logan's ELDER DNA chart:
http://www.familytrail.com/elder/DNAresults.html

Does anyone have notes about this JOSEPH ELDER in your files,
or perhaps in papers of Ann Elder Brooks Poe?
I don't see a JOSEPH of 1700's in the
"Robert Elder b. 1760 York Co PA" trees that I have in file,
either in GEORGE ELDER of Spartanburg, SC,
or MATTHEW ELDER trees.

JOSEPH ELDER was maybe born 1749 in York Co PA or elsewhere.
JOSEPH ELDER has a land record on REEDY CREEK, Sullivan Co TN,
near ROBERT, MATTHEW, of Washington Co VA/Sullivan Co TN.
I do have a PA ARCHIVES REV WAR CARD for JOSEPH ELDER of York Co PA,
posted here:

I have posted info about land on REEDY CREEK, Washington Co VA,
here on my new webpage for JOSEPH ELDER research:

Nancy,
How about a marriage record?
Joseph Elder married Elizabeth Stoarh in Washington Co, VA on 6 Aug 1785.
I got this from a book at the Library of Virginia called Virginia Marriages Early to 1800, copyright 1991, Liahona Research, Inc. It is a compilation from a variety of sources, such as Parish records and County records.
The index on ancestry.com lists the same marriage data.
I have seen online family trees list her as Stoarh and as Stoark.
